– Lower Secondary School students benefit from programs in study organization and method, creative writing, and activities in the areas of handwriting and spelling.
– These complementary programs are composed of support classes in Portuguese and Mathematics, study time planning activities, reading and writing, problem solving, note taking, and preparation for assessment tests.
CURRICULAR INTERDISCIPLINARITY
Teaching at Astoria International School in Lower Secondary School benefits from interdisciplinarity among the various curricular areas, as this is fundamental for success in the different learning experiences.
AUTONOMY AND CRITICAL THINKING
In Lower Secondary School, fundamental concepts and values for the socio-pedagogical development of AIS students are worked on, such as: autonomy, critical thinking, the ability to reflect and question the world, through group work and reflections, individual and collective projects, and other activities that meet our students’ interests.
CAMBRIDGE LOWER SECONDARY
AIS focuses on communication and develops the five basic language skills: Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening and Speaking.
The strategies used to develop these five areas are carried out considering the age group and the characteristics presented by each group.
The project area and citizenship plays a key role in building citizens who are aware of the global and intercultural modern world, so essential projects are developed to work on these themes.
COMPLEMENTARY PROGRAMS
Our students benefit from the direct intervention of the Psychology and Guidance Office and, in conjunction with teachers and coordinators in monitoring students, are included in programs of organization and study method, creative writing, and in the areas of handwriting and spelling.
