Bilingual Education

In the bilingual kindergarten at Astoria International School in Lisbon, children are immersed in an immersive method, learning in both Portuguese and English.

Through play-based activities, educational project development, and parallel themes, the international department and the kindergarten’s pedagogical team collaborate to provide effective and enjoyable language learning.

This bilingual teaching method not only enhances children’s language skills but also promotes cognitive and cultural development.

At Astoria, we ensure that our students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for a successful future.

Kindergarten with Theatre

In the theatre workshops at the bilingual kindergarten of Astoria International School in Lisbon, children explore their creativity and imagination through storytelling and “on-stage” characters.

Through symbolic play, which emerges in performances and enactments, students develop their dramatic expression skills and communication abilities.

These play-based activities enhance children’s creative capacities, work on relational dynamics, and improve personal skills such as confidence and group expression.

At Astoria, we make sure theatre becomes a powerful tool for the holistic development of our students, promoting high-quality education.

SCIENCE AND COOKING WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN

The Science workshops at the bilingual kindergarten of Astoria International School in Lisbon allow students to explore world-related themes using the scientific method.

Through research, analysis, and hands-on experiments, children learn about fascinating topics such as how a rainbow forms, steam generation, states of water, the horizon, and other incredible discoveries.

In the Fun Cooking workshops, students have the opportunity to explore, learn, and have fun while discovering different foods, using cooking techniques, working with various textures, and discovering different flavours and smells.

Additionally, these workshops promote the concept of healthy eating, teaching children the importance of a balanced diet.

MATHEMATICAL LITERACY LINKED TO NEW TECHNOLOGIES

The mathematical literacy project at the bilingual kindergarten of Astoria International School in Lisbon is developed with the help of new technologies, aiming to engage students in logical-mathematical reasoning.

By recognising spatial-temporal concepts, writing numbers, and taking the first steps in mathematics, students explore digital resources such as interactive whiteboards and tablets.

These innovative tools provide an engaging and effective learning experience, preparing children for future academic challenges.
