In 1605, King James I was the king of England and Scotland. A man called Guy Fawkes and his friends plotted to blow up the Housesof Parliament.
They decided to blow up the King’s chair. Kaboom!!! An enormous explosion. 36 barrels were found by the king’s guards. Guy Fawkes was put in jail, and later executed!
The King decided that every 5th November people would celebrate. We burn bonfires and light fireworks! Remember, Remember the 5th of November.
